This past weekend on Saturday I went to my mentors house to start my actual project and catch fish. The laying net part did not work as expected because there was another net right next to the net that we played out. We had not realized this until the sun came up and we seen their floaters in the water. I was really let down but that same day we went diving and we got some tau and roi and Micah also got a tako. It was really fun and I believe that I have completed my project.
Today I will be going to Micah Hees house in order to start my project. We will first be doing a small reef clean up so we will lay a net out tonight in order to do this. We hope to catch some Toaus and will stay up through the night checking on the net for native fish in which we will release these fishes. I am really excited to see what we will catch and how much of it we will.
Today I made my decision final. I will be doing this project with the help of Micah Hee and the place I will be focusing on to get rid of fish is the Ahupuaʻa of Hauʻula as well as disposing of fish in other places on Oʻahu. I need to make sure that I live up to my word of going to Micahs house and actually doing the project by showing initiative and perseverance. He has told me where there're a lot of invasive fish such as Roi and Toau and that is where we will be going. I have also found a camera to record with from my brother and I will be taking it in and out of the water.
